Things to do in Warsaw

Warsaw

Okay, after being to Warsaw recently I can help lots of people who are wondering what they should do first when they go to the capital of Poland and stay in Budapest apartments. Well, as a beginning I should say that there are lots of things worth seeing in this city and it is quite hard to visit all of them, especially if you don’t have enough time. The first thing I should start with is the Old Town of Warsaw. As you know it was completely destroyed when the Nazis left, but thanks to the hard work of good people, all of the gothic style streets and buildings were reconstructed. Don’t forget to take your photo camera with you because you will have the chance to take some amazing pictures.

The second place on my list is the Warsaw Rising Museum. It is located 3 km from the city center so it will not be hard for you to find it. It is quite an interesting place. After that you can head and visit the University of Warsaw. This place has a really rich culture and if you are interested you can try hiring a guide to explain you all about it. It’s situated near the center as well – if I remember correctly around 0.8 km.

You should pay a special attention to the museums. Visit the national museum of Warsaw, Gestapo headquarters museum. On the other hand, if you don’t like visiting museums you can always go and check out the Royal Castle named Zamek Krolewski. Another city famouse with the castles nearby is Krakow where you can stay in Apartment Krakow.

But anyway, if you are a young man and you don’t want to go sightseeing don’t worry. Warsaw is a great place for the youth. You will be able to find lots of nice places such as pubs, clubs, cinemas and malls. The prices are really affordable at most of them so this should not bother you at all. In Poland’s capital the nightlife is definitely popular. Dekada is one of the best clubs you should visit. The last time I was there the people were really nice, cheap drinks, beautiful girls all over the place, what more can you want? Everyone was really friendly.

As I mentioned above there are many sights in Warsaw but I didn’t have enough time and I managed to visit only the things I’ve listed above. But anyway if you intend to spend around 1-2 weeks in Warsaw then one quick internet research will help you a lot. Just google “things to do in Warsaw” and you will see that you will find what you need for sure. One last advice….just book a hotel room two or three weeks earlier before you go there because the city is really crowded and sometimes finding a hotel at affordable price can be a tough decision. I made the mistake to go there without a reservation and had some hard time finding a proper place to stay so in order to protect yourself from such a mistake listen to my advice.

Anouther destination in Europe that is worth visiting is Berlin where you can stay in Berlin apartment.

Six of the best cities in the world to get lost in

April 4, 2012 in Holiday Travel

Travelling is predominantly about adventure and there is no greater adventure than discovering a city by getting lost in it. Put away your maps and follow your instincts as you explore six of the most fascinating cities in the world and find out what serendipity has to offer you.

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona has been one of the emerging destinations in the world over the last decade and with its bustling streets, a wealth of world-class museums and galleries it´s hardly surprising. But more than that, Barcelona is almost entirely designed by the enamoured Catalan modernist architect Antoni Gaudi and as a result Barcelona is an open-air sculpture park with the likes of the iconic La Sagrada Familia and the surreal Casa Mila.

Varanasi, India

Sitting on the cusp of the Ganges River, the charismatic city of Varanasi is the spiritual centre and cultural melting pot of India. This most revered of religious places is said to have been found by Lord Shiva over 5000 years ago and its bustling streets are lined with fascinating architecture, skilfully crafted ornaments and inviting restaurants serving delicious Indian recipes. Furthermore, a walk along the ghats is one of the most absorbing experiences you will find anywhere in the world. Try a camping holiday to really experience all the city has to offer.

Kathmandu, Nepal

The cobbled maze of Kathmandu is best explored on foot. Winding your way through cobbled side alleys, thriving markets and peaceful monastery courtyards, there seems to be an architectural wonder with every turn. Not least are the enchanting temples, with their vibrant colours and triple-tiered roofs together with the UNESCO listed area of Durbar Square with its fascinating history and rooftop gardens where you can enjoy a pot of uplifting tea.

Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is very much an emerging megacity of the future and having lifted itself from the rubble of the Korean War is developing into a hegemony of 21st-century architecture. With towering glass skyscrapers contrasting with the Far Eastern designs of ancient temples, Seoul´s otherworldly attributes both amaze and inspire. Also don´t forget the down-trodden shanty towns with their street stalls selling everything from fried squid and shrimp balls to ornamental statues of Buddha and all manner of mobile phone accessories.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires is one of the most passionate cities on the planet, and with a blend of pretty European architecture, attractive residents and a wealth of shopping opportunities, getting lost in the Argentinean capital is the best way to discover its hidden charms. As a walking city it is vast, too big to see in a day, but each district has its own unique character, though a common aspect are the bohemian cafes, tasteful street art, attractive fountains and numerous creative sculptures. Not to mention ridiculously cheap steaks!
Jerusalem, Israel
Even since ancient times, Jerusalem is best known for its pilgrimages to sacred religious sites, but this holiest of lands has far more to offer than countless churches. The diversity of this cultural melting pot makes for a wealth of contrasting cultural spaces, with a wide variety of fascinating fashions, handicrafts and cuisines to discover. Despite the obvious political conflicts in the country, the majority of Jerusalem is safe to walk around so don´t be afraid to explore every inch of the city´s 500-year old stone walls and charred-grilled kebab shops tucked in narrow side streets.
